Picking up where we left off in Part 1 of our series on the Salesforce Summer 2023 release, we’ll discuss MFA changes, new ways to create sandboxes, and analytics changes that may impact your current reporting.

Be on the lookout for the third and final part of our release highlights when the Salesforce Marketing Cloud release notes drop!

General Functionality

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Auto-Enablement

As of February 1, 2022, users are contractually required to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) when they access Salesforce orgs, either through direct logins with a username and password or single sign-on (SSO) logins. To help customers satisfy this requirement, Salesforce is automatically enabling MFA for direct logins.

The first MFA auto-enablement phase occurred during Spring ’23, and additional phases are scheduled for the next several major releases, concluding with Spring ’24. In the future, Salesforce plans to enforce MFA by making it a permanent part of the login process.

To avoid disruptions to your users when these milestones occur, enable MFA as soon as possible.

Quickly Create Full Sandboxes

The Quick Create technology enhances the speed at which Full sandboxes are created or refreshed. Teams can focus more time on developing and testing solutions and spend less time waiting for sandboxes to be built.

Where: This change applies to new Full sandbox requests for production orgs on eligible Hyperforce instances.

When: This feature will be rolled out as a staggered release after June 10.

Who: You need the Manage Sandbox user permission to create or refresh a Full sandbox.

How: Salesforce admins don't have to enable this feature. Quick Create is the default for new Full sandbox requests on eligible instances.

Analytics & Reporting

Unify All Your Analytics in the Analytics Home

Rather than managing analytics across different tools, you can find what you need in the updated Analytics home. This personalized environment for CRM Analytics and reports and dashboards organizes all your content in a cohesive and intelligent experience. Go to “See Also” to learn more about the reimagined Analytics home for CRM Analytics and reports and dashboards.

Get a cohesive and personalized experience for all your analytics with the new Analytics tab. Within your new home for analytics, you get a centralized environment that can be tailored to your data needs. In addition, you get an intuitive search functionality that makes it easy to find the data you need. You also get Collections that enable you to curate and categorize your most important data and insights and collaborate with your colleagues more efficiently.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. Access to CRM Analytics items is available for an extra cost.

How: From the App Launcher, select Analytics. On the Analytics tab, use search and browse to locate reports and dashboards. For You organizes analytics for each user to help them find what they’re looking for quickly. Go to My Analytics to access content from a chronological listing or from Favorites. Use Collections to curate and organize analytics across different folders and share them with other users.

Connect to Data Cloud with the New Tableau Connector

The new Tableau connector connects Data Cloud and Tableau seamlessly. The connector is automatically included in a Tableau install and eliminates the additional step to install the connector with Taco file and JDBC driver.

The driverless connector is data spaces aware with improved usability that shows the object label instead of the object API name in Tableau connect UI. The table names in Tableau are now more user friendly. For example, instead of Lead__dll, the table name now is Lead. The connector is available for Tableau Cloud and Tableau Desktop.

Create Workflows and Streamline Approvals in Enhanced CMS Workspaces

Use CMS Workflows and Approvals, now generally available in enhanced CMS workspaces, to create custom workflows directly from your CMS content items. Build flows for approvals, translation requests, and more and access them directly from your content items.

View history from the Workflow component to see a full audit trail of your workflow process. To get started, use the prebuilt Basic Approval Workflow, created with Flow Orchestration technology.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Why: With workflows, you can control access to content publication and send content for review and approval directly from the content detail page. Use roles in Salesforce CMS to funnel approvals from your content creators to your content managers by using roles in Salesforce CMS. From within a workflow, you can specify reviewer and requester groups.

How: Workflows and Approvals are automatically added to all enhanced CMS workspaces and appear on the content details page of your content items.

See Object Names in Record Tabs

When viewing or inline editing a record, Salesforce displays the record name, object name, and Salesforce in the tab name. The object name doesn’t appear when fully editing a record in Lightning, but it appears when fully editing a record in Lightning Console. Previously, Salesforce displayed only the record name and Salesforce in the tab name when viewing or editing a record.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. Lightning console apps are available for an extra cost to users with Salesforce Platform user licenses for certain products. Some restrictions apply. For pricing details, contact your Salesforce account executive

Enrich Predictions with Data from Related Objects (Beta)

Create smarter AI predictions using additional data that can improve your prediction outcome. Sometimes the fields containing the data that you need reside in a different object. You can now join a primary object with related objects using their lookup fields. Using additional data for a prediction can deliver more intelligent predictions and insights.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Who: This feature is available to admins with the CRM Analytics Plus, Einstein Predictions, EinsteinBuilderFree, or Platform Plus licenses.

How: After you define your primary object, segment, and example records, go to the Included Fields page and add the related objects.
